Build Your Own Landscape
Build Your Own Landscapes
Cast shadows projected onto wall, created by screenprint on acrylic panels mounted to wall, with moveable color films and found objects
Printed from photographs from hiking trips in Alaska and California, this body of work stems from my ongoing research into the development of wilderness sites and the traditions of early 20th Century American landscape photography. Stemming from an interest in the cultural and political issues embedded in the development of the National Park system and the creation of "wilderness", the works also touch upon Romanticism, aesthetics, and memory.
